Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!

Alden just got the chicken pox yesterday.

C-H-I-C-K-E-N  P-O-X!!!!!!

The most dreaded childhood disease in the history of mankind. Why oh why does it have to happen now? When I'm on my own? If I were home, mom would know what to do. Me? I'm clueless.

Well, despite being clueless, it was me who discovered the first few spots on Alden's back last night. When I told hubby about it, he was like "Oooh, sia nampak ba tu tadi masa kasi mandi tapi sia ingat kana gigit nyamuk". (eye roll) There's never been any nyamuk where we live right now so his excuse for not recognizing the pox is quite disappointing.

I called mom this morning to tell her the news and she gave me some useful advice: drink lots of water, remain indoors and steer clear of peanuts, eggs and soy sauce.

So for the next 10 to 14 days, I will be at home babysitting poxed Alden. He's super cranky right now and I have no choice but to say YES to his every need. His wish is my command! I'm hoping lilttle Vava doesn't get it too cos if she does, I think I'll go mental.  A chicken pox party is the last thing I want right now.

Errrr, just so happened I was talking with my lady boss about her son kena chicken pox yesterday.. Hope Alden will get over it soon. I think its quite infectious bcoz i remember getting it almost at the same time with all my other siblings when we were kids. Bahh, ur mom sure gives the best advice. :-)

hi mrs.. look on the bright side.. it's better to get it as kids than as adults.

calamine lotion (like air bandung colour) will help with the itch although it never helped with mine. hehe.

and if ur worried about scars, apply vitamin e cream on the scar diligently and it'll soon disappear.

and as much as you hate to think it, it'll be better for vava to get it the same time.. one leg kick ba ni, or so they say.

Chicken Pox Treatment - Soothing Baths
Frequent baths are sometimes helpful to relieve itching. Adding finely-ground (colloidal) oatmeal such as Aveeno can help improve itching. Oatmeal baths can be prepared at home also by grinding or blending dry oatmeal into a fine powder and adding about 2 cups to the bath water. One-half to one cup of baking soda may also be added to bath water to reduce itching.

sorry to flood ur page.. hehe

odoiii so kesian alden. and its always breaks your heart if children fell sick. but, like caroline (my sangai) said, it's better he gets now than later. and vava too. i got it at the age of 28...so being adult and having pox scars on your face is so not cool.

and the tips carol gave, you know...if only i had known that when i got the pox, i would have never got myself became 'kambing' for almost 3 days! i was told not to bathe. odoiiiii...

Amanda - Yes, my 8 month old baby ba. Still so tiny that's why I'm freaked out. But anyway, you're rignt. Biarla satu kali kena kan...No choice juga la.

Kay- Dui gia..28??? Hehe..Katawa sia imagine ko nda mandi 3 hari. My mom told me the same thing too. But like Caroline said, buli mandi ba. Called the midwife and she said it's good for the itch.

Gotten over the panic stage so as all of you have pointed out, bagus kana satu kali kan. Getting ready for second poxed baby la ni.
